Dear Readers,
The continued growth of the airline industry has an impact on a number of issues on the environment. We take responsibility by becoming more sustainable everyday. From recycling waste to flying on sustainable fuel, here are some examples of how we achieve this.

Waste & recycling

In addition to 'traditional' recycling methods, we are also working on multiple innovative projects. Think of separating waste on board, recycled KLM straps reused in durable bags or our onboard carpet made from old KLM uniforms. Curious about other waste & recycling projects?

CO2ZERO

With our CO2ZERO service, you can compensate the CO2 emission of your flight. Thanks to our passenger's contribution, we restored 500 hectares of tropical forest during our reforestation project in Panama. We are inviting you to opt-in for this initiative while booking your ticket at KLM.com or afterwards via My Trip.

Sustainable catering

Our responsible approach to people and the planet also extends to the food choices we make. From sustainable tea and coffee to fair-trade chocolate, we also use organic eggs, bread and wine. We also give particular consideration to the use of fish, palm oil and soya.
